Configuring Bandwidth Rules for User Exceeded Quotas

Overview

Kerio Control enables administrators to limit the data/internet that users can use. Furthermore, using Bandwidth Management in Kerio Control, it is possible to define what happens when that limit is exceeded for the users and the data/internet usage then needs to be extended for the users.

 

Solution

Below are the steps required to configure bandwidth rules for Exceeded Quotas:

  1. Login to Kerio Control web interface as Administrator.
  2. Go to Configuration > Bandwidth Management and QoS.
  3. Click Add.
  4. Enter a name for the limit rule, e.g., 'Bandwidth exceeded'
  5. Double-click the Traffic column for this new rule:

  1. Choose Exceeded Quota in the Traffic dialog box and click OK:

  1. Double-click the Download column for this rule, choose Do not exceed, and enter the value, e.g., 1 Mbit/s, in the Download Bandwidth Policy dialog box and click OK:

  1. Double-click the Upload column for this rule, choose Do not exceed, and enter the value, e.g., 1 Mbit/s, in the Upload Bandwidth Policy dialog box and click OK:

  1. If your Kerio Control has multiple interfaces and this rule applies to a single interface, then, the same can be selected by double-clicking the Interface column for this rule, select Apply the policy on selected interface only option, select the appropriate interface from the drop-down, and click OK:

  1. The Valid Time column gives a drop-down with the option to define whether this rule will be applicable Always or during Upgrade window. Note: If Always is selected, then, the Valid Time column will be blank for this rule.
  2. If the Chart column is checked for this rule, then, the Traffic Charts for this rule will be available under Status > Traffic Charts.
  3. Click Apply:
