Overview

Solution
In order to completely disable SNORT, you need to disable Intrusion Prevention System and also disable Application Awareness. After successfully disabling both, the SNORT process should stop.
Note: The linked articles discuss enabling both features, but the exact opposite process (unchecking enable options) can be followed to disable these features.
