Overview
Kerio Control can require users to authenticate before they can browse the web. When this option is enabled, and an unauthenticated user opens a non-secure website in their browser, Control redirects the user to the firewall login page. After the user successfully logs in, Control permits access to the originally requested page. Traffic will be reported as "not logged in" in User Statistics if the option is disabled.
This article provides the steps to enable user authentication for accessing web pages.
Note: Before enabling this option, make sure you configure the Kerio Control web interface. For more information on this, please refer to the article: Configuring the Kerio Control web interface.
Process
To require user authentication:
- In the administration interface, go to Domains and User Login > Authentication Options.
- Select the Always require users to be authenticated when accessing web pages option.
- (Optional) If Kerio Control connects to Active Directory, you can select Enable automatic authentication using NTLM.
In this case, the web browser automatically authenticates the user via TLM. For more information, please refer to the Automatic user authentication using NTLM article. - Click the Apply button to save your changes.
