Overview
This article covers the process of enabling encryption to ensure that Kerio Control encrypts log, configuration, statistics and reporting data before writing it to the disk. Additionally, it provides the steps required to disable encryption.
Note: Data encryption is bound to a specific storage device, and thus, administrators planning to change the hardware must first disable data encryption. Also, the encryption results in higher resource utilization; therefore, performance may be impacted.
Process
Enabling Encryption
- In Kerio Control's administration interface, navigate to Configuration > Advanced Options.
- Go to the Data Encryption tab.
- Enter and confirm the encryption password.
Note: Once the encryption is enabled, the password cannot be changed, and therefore, it has to be saved, as it will be required to decrypt the data.
- Click Enable and confirm the action.
Disabling Encryption
- In Kerio Control's administration interface, navigate to Configuration > Advanced Options.
- Go to the Data Encryption tab.
- Click on Disable.
